How To Turn Off The Flash In Auto Mode

If you are shooting in Auto mode and the flash pops up when you don’t want it to, what do you do? To turn off the flash when shooting in Auto Mode, don’t push and hold the flash in the off position – that can actually damage the camera.

Instead, turn the Mode Dial to the “Auto (Flash Off)” mode. It kind of looks like a lightning bolt with a line through it (although you may not see much of the line).

Keep in mind that your camera will now use slower shutter speeds which may warrant using a tripod to ensure a sharp photo under darker conditions.
